Packaging & label system design - Australian chemical manufacturer

Following our rebrand project for Clean Plus Chemicals, an Australian based chemical manufacturer (click here to read about the rebrand) Outspoken Entourage was commissioned to design labels for their flagship range of cleaning products sold through cleaning product retailers throughout Australia.

Whilst the rebrand used a bottle green, Clean Plus wanted to create a range of products that was easily distinguished within their range through use of a repetitive design, each with a unique product image depicting the use of the product.

Packaging system design concept to reality

The packaging / label system for the flagship and most popular sellers within the catalogue needed to be flexible in its design to not only fit a 5 litre container, but also other sizes including 15 litres, 20 litres and also 10 and 25kg powder/solid products. The label design also needed to host a large range of safety information, along with instructions, product description, barcode, QR code, product ID and more. These items were designed to be integrated into the label with its location being to the right hand side of the main label. This was then wrapped around the container on some items but still needed to be aesthetically pleasing on items where it did not wrap around the vessel. The process of creating this modular system involved starting with the product containing the largest amount of information and designing the placement so that all other products would then fit the space provided with minimal requirements to alter the information on a case-by-case basis, in turn creating an efficient system for future creation and output of new labels.

The end product - 105 labels created for 38 products

The completed design system was a breeze to roll out for the team after the finished copy, safety requirements (including symbols and warnings) and other items such as barcodes were inserted into each label. There were a few changes in the images used on the front of each label to meet each of the decision maker's preferences. Over 100 labels were output for print across approximately 38 different product lines. We can't wait to see these on the shelves at a store near you.
